With its steep hills and cobbled streets, Edinburgh is not a city that you want to carry luggage around in. Thankfully Drop Your Bag can help you find a convenient location where you can leave your suitcases and backpacks for a few hours, giving you the freedom to explore sights like Edinburgh Castle, Arthur’s Seat, and Holyrood Palace.
We looked at a number of different luggage storage websites and found that Radical Storage, Bounce, and Stasher all had plenty of great options.
City Centre Locations
Given just how popular tourism is in Edinburgh, it isn’t surprising that there are a number of luggage storage options dotted in and around the city. The following are just a few favourites:
- Bus Station lockers: This is obviously ideal if you’re getting the bus, but it’s also conveniently located in Saint Andrew’s Square which is on the Edinburgh Tram Line and close to where the Airport Bus departs from. According to the Edinburgh council website, the prices are: £8 small, £10 medium, £12 large for each 12 hour period. A limited number of larger lockers are available for £15 and £20 for each 12 hour period.
A left luggage service is available through Luggage Point. Prices and more information can be found on Edinburgh Airport’s website.
Waverley & Haymarket Train Stations
If you’re arriving into Edinburgh by train, the good news is that there are several options for storing your heavy bags.
- Edinburgh Waverley: There is a left luggage storage option at Waverley Station. Bounce & Stasher both listed luggage storage at shops within or close to the station as well.
- Edinburgh Haymarket: There is no left luggage option at Haymarket station. You can either take the train onto Waverley (one more stop) or find a shop or business offering luggage storage closer to Haymarket.
According to Edinburgh Zoo’s website, there are a limited number of lockers at the zoo in small, medium, and large sizes. The prices and cost per locker are available on the Edinburgh Zoo website.
There isn’t a cloakroom or storage facility at Edinburgh Castle. However, you can store your bags at a number of locations towards the top of the Royal Mile, just outside of Edinburgh Castle.
